Testing out some Distributions

I’ve been a big fan of Ubuntu and what they are doing since they first hit the scene.  I’ve been using it for quite some time now, and have been more than happy with their approach.  The latest release, Hardy Heron 8.04 proves that this distribution is doing more than their part to keep up and in most cases exceed the rest of the pack.

That being said, I’ve noticed a few other distros have really been picking back up again.  Fedora (what I used before Ubuntu) is one of these I’ve really been keeping my eye on lately.  I think it’s time for me to fire up Virtualbox and start testing some of the recent distros.  If I’m feeling frisky I may even install one to another partition and test out some hardware recognition.  I’ve been out of the loop on some of my past OS’s and am interested in finding out what they’ve done to improve on them.  I know I had my reasons in the past to make the switch to Ubuntu, but for the same reasons I believe it may be time to at least feel out some others.

Look back here for some short reviews in the future of Fedora, openSUSE, Sabayon and Foresight (GNOME & KDE versions also where available, time permitting).  Any suggestions?  Leave me a comment.
