Brother MFC-440CN in Ubuntu Revisited - In Two Steps

Posted on May 6th, 2008.

I felt it was time to revisit this post and update some seemingly outdated information.  This should make the process much easier.

  1. In a terminal
    sudo aptitude install brother-cups-wrapper-bh7
  2. When the drivers are done installing, make sure that the printer is turned on and connected/findable on your network and go to System > Printing > New Printer and follow the next few dialog boxes.  Default settings should work just fine.

Hopefully this will take some of the pain away from installation!  Enjoy.
